Kelsi Kennemore is an incredibly ambitious, energetic and driven 10-year-old girl who has undertaken the mission of bringing Toads on Trade back to downtown Greer, but with a historical twist this time. Inspired by Mice on Main in Greenville, Kelsi discovered that there were a handful of Toads scattered about downtown Greer and sought out Jason Clark (TSC104) who originally established Toads on Trade in 2009 with help from his sister. Armed with that information, Kelsi dutifully sought out each of the original toads, only to discover that just five of the original nine toads still existed.
Letting her imagination guide her, Kelsi developed a plan to not only re-establish the toads, but to expand it to 16 locations, and develop a back story for each toad’s locale… tying that backstory to each building’s history. This 10-year-old project manager and future civic leader has not only re-established a whimsical scavenger hunt for children of all ages, but she plans to write a book telling their story and the history behind each of her toads’ destinations... each a slice of Greer history.
Kelsi’s Toads on Trade journey is just another facet of what makes Historic Downtown Greer the best destination in the Upstate.
